Police raids net arms, ammo, suspects
POLICE this week arrested a highranking Afrikaner Weerstandsbeweging (AWB) member, and what they described as “an associate” during raids in Gauteng.
The 48-year-old man, who Hawks spokesman Brigadier Hangwani Mulaudzi described as a “the leader of the AWB in the Vaal” was arrested at a house in Vanderbijlpark.
He was in possession of two rifles, two shotguns, two pistols and 2 136 rounds of ammunition.
On Thursday police confiscated 306 rounds ammunition and a rifle at a residence in Vereeniging. During a second raid, they arrested a 42-yearold man and recovered nine rifles and three pistols in Vanderbijlpark. – Weekend Argus Reporter
