AMID the madness of the 2010 Soccer World Cup I Love You, You’re Perfect, Now Change was at the Masque Theatre and Kalk Bay Theatre.
This wacky, quirky and stylish rom-com musical is now at Theatre on the Bay from Wednesday until August 6. It stars Claire Taylor, Neels Clasen, Brandon Lindsay and Taryn-Lee Hudson, accompanied by piano and violin under the musical direction of Wessel Odendaal. Musical staging is by Timothy le Roux.
It’s six years after its first Cape staging and a new production, with a fresh cast and design but the same terrific dialogue and music which has made the show (first staged in the US in 1996) the second- longest- running Off- Broadway musical. Tony Award winner Joe DiPietro wrote the book, with music by Jimmy Roberts. DiPietro has also designed the 2010 run. This time, he does not perform, but is the producer (VRG productions).
