WASHINGTON: The countdown to Wally West making his debut as Kid Flash on CW Television Network’s The Flash just got a lot shorter.

Variety has revealed the first image of the sidekick speedster. Actor Keiynan Lonsdale will make his first appearance in the yellow and red super-suit in The Flash season three premiere, titled Flashpoint, on October 4.

Fans will recall that while Lonsdale made his debut as Wally West in season two, nothing actually happened that would lead viewers to believe Wally would reach top speeds so soon in season three. (He did experience a moment last season that could have led to developing super-speed – enough that his father Joe West (Jesse L Martin) kept testing him to see if he had become a speedster – but to no avail.)

What we could see in the premiere are the results of Barry Allen/ the Flash ( Grant Gustin) using his speed to go back in time to prevent the death of his mother in season two’s finale.

Every time Barry goes back in time, whether by accident or on purpose, he returns to a present day that has somehow been changed. One of those changes could be Wally now being a speedster.

It would be quite the tease if Wally becoming Kid Flash was only a temporary result of Barry’s tampering with time. Fans waited patiently in season two and got no speed from Wally in return; on the other hand, it was a season-long look at the kid who would eventually be underneath a mask.

Is Kid Flash here to stay? We’ll find out in just a few short months. It can’t get here fast enough. – Washington Post
