SA economy needs policy certainty

Weekend Argus (Saturday Edition) - - FRONT PAGE -

SOUTH Africa’s flat- lining growth would not solve the problems facing its economy and the government needed to stabilise policies to reassure investors, deputy central bank governor Daniel Mminele said.

“Clearly, the growth rates that we’re seeing... are woefully inadequate to address the challenges we have as a country,” Mminele said yesterday, adding policy certainty and business friendly measures were required to encourage investment. The bank expects inflation to average 6.4 percent in 2016, slightly down from an earlier forecast of 6.6 percent.
