Third force at work?

Weekend Argus (Saturday Edition) - - FRONT PAGE -

I BELIEVE that what you earn with hard work, you always strive to keep.

I am 49 and unemployed. One of the students involved in the #FeesMustFall saga is my child. I have been paying the fees from my savings. We hear that fees must fall, but no one provides a solution on how to resolve the matter. We also don’t see support from the cabinet for Higher Education Minister Blade Nzimande. (Maybe his party’s decision to contest the 2019 elections is the reason he’s going solo.)

Perhaps we are seeing an unseen “third force” like in the 1990s that is at work behind the scenes – one intent on derailing dialogue – to see goals achieved at all costs (even destroying infrastructure). I believe that the real issues have taken a back seat, but someone with influence will step in to use this period of “start-up demonstrations” to achieve their hidden agenda.

The protests are a digression from real issues such as unemployment and crime. Higher education is not a right but a privilege.
