LONDON: “Florals for spring? Groundbreaking.” The deadpan line from surly fashion editor Miranda Priestly in the film The Devil Wears Prada is infamous, and she certainly has a point. While florals are a little overdone when it comes to spring/summer, for winter they offer something more interesting.

Flowers bring to mind things bright and bold, understandably characteristics most prefer to reserve for fairer weather. Just like the temperature, most find the vibrancy of our wardrobes takes a plunge when autumn arrives.

Designers took to this trend with gusto, eschewing any thoughts of minimalism.

The autumn/ winter proposition for florals is unapologetically opulent.

This is ideal for eveningwear as we move into party season, but it’s also a look that can be adjusted to become daytime appropriate.

Now is the time to embrace your inner grunge; think floaty floral dresses teamed with leather jackets and clunky boots. – The Independent
