Scissor hands slashed estimate to ribbons

DURING a Christie’s auction of entertainment items, the scissor hands worn by Johnny Depp in the 1990 Tim Burton movie, Edward Scissorhands, were one of the top earners, selling for R215 000.

The prop, composed of steel, leather, painted rubber and foamlatex, was only expected to fetch around R67 000. The hands were created by Hollywood specialists in make-up effects. – Auctions Writer
