R6m horn bust
SARS customs officials intercepted a suspicious bag with 28.76kg of rhino horn valued at almost R6 million at OR Tambo International Airport on Wednesday.
On inspection, they found five rhino horns concealed in hard wax moulds wrapped in paper. The passenger and the goods were handed over to police.
In a separate incident, customs officials found counterfeit designer label clothes valued at R1.4m and destined for Hong Kong in a cargo shed at OR Tambo. – ANA
