R6m horn bust

SARS customs officials intercepte­d a suspicious bag with 28.76kg of rhino horn valued at almost R6 million at OR Tambo Internatio­nal Airport on Wednesday.

On inspection, they found five rhino horns concealed in hard wax moulds wrapped in paper. The passenger and the goods were handed over to police.

In a separate incident, customs officials found counterfei­t designer label clothes valued at R1.4m and destined for Hong Kong in a cargo shed at OR Tambo. – ANA
