Tidy sum for Darwin’s writing

PAGE 270 from Charles Darwin’s 1858 manuscript, On the Origin of Species, was sold at a Sotheby’s sale of fine books and manuscripts for $250 000.

The page was sold to Stephan Loewentheil, president and founder of the 19th Century Rare Book & Photograph Shop.

The two-sided page contains 140 words and includes deletions and edits. Only a handful of Darwin’s pages have survived. – Auctions Writer
