Bidding farewell to a talented young journalist
IT IS with a sense of profound shock and sadness that POST has learnt of the death of talented writer, journalist and columnist Colin Roopnarain, 34, who died on Thursday after a short illness.
The versatile writer worked for many publications, including Weekend Argus’s sister newspaper the Sunday Tribune and The Mercury.
Roopnarain was the co-ordinator of the Tribune’s Sunday Magazine and was a regular contributor to The Good Weekend.
His POST column, The Fence, was very popular, with a unique and witty take on all aspects of life.
His intricate web of words impressed many readers.
Roopnarain’s passion was entertainment and creative writing, having interviewed over the past decade numerous celebrities and promoting the local arts scene.
POST Editor Krisendra Bisetty said that while Colin was at the paper for a short time, he made a valuable contribution and would be sorely missed.
“He had a rare talent to both engage and entertain readers at the same time. Colin was always willing to take on new challenges, not letting anything get in the way.”
