Jury duty for Obama

CHICAGO: For­mer US pres­i­dent Barack Obama has been called for jury duty in Chicago.

On Fri­day, Cook County Chief Judge Tim Evans said Obama, who owns a home in Chicago, was due to serve next month.

Evans said Obama’s safety would be “up­per­most in our minds”.

Those called can be put ei­ther in the pool for crim­i­nal case or civil hear­ings.

They can be called to any of the county’s Chicago or sub­ur­ban courts.

Jurors in Cook County are paid $17.20 (R243.22) for each day of ser­vice. – AP
