City development land to be sold on auction
Sites across Cape Town on offer next month
FOLLOWING the successful outcomes of property auctions on behalf of the City of Cape Town, the Claremart Auction Group has again been appointed to auction development sites across greater Cape Town.
Andrew Koch, ClareMart general executive director, says one site is in Delft, where commercial space is in huge demand. “The 1 773m² erf has a prime commercial location on the corner of Main Road and Leiden Avenue, with high vehicular and pedestrian traffic. It is located on a busy taxi and bus route, and is zoned General Business 1,” he says.
A 4 753m² erf in Mountain Road, Fish Hoek, representing prime development land on the mountainside and zoned Single Residential 1, will also be brought to auction.
A 991m² erf in 12th Avenue, Goodwood, zoned Single Residential 1, will provide an opportunity to build a home in a popular neighbourhood with easy access to major freeways.
Also available will be a 496m² erf, zoned Single Residential
1, in Rathgar Street, Bellville. “The site is well located in a fully developed neighbourhood.”
Other areas in which development sites of varied sizes are situated include Kensington, Mitchells Plain, the Strand and Kraaifontein.
“We’ve been appointed by the city for the next two years to facilitate the sale of its assets and assist it in achieving optimum results,” says Koch. “These properties offer great potential returns and are generally sought after among investors who wish to buy land to develop for rental or personal occupation.”
The auction will be held at the City Hall, in the ground floor Children’s Library, which is on the corner of Darling and Parade streets on December 5. A 10% deposit will be payable on the fall of the hammer, as well as the auctioneer’s commission. The balance will be payable on registration of transfer.
