Bistro, butch­ery items up for grabs

VELOX will host a cater­ing auc­tion, which prin­ci­pal auc­tion­eer JP Oliver says will be “mas­sive”, at its premises on Tues­day, when the en­tire con­tents of a bistro and cof­fee shop, as well as those of a butch­ery, will go under the ham­mer.

The auc­tion will be­gin at

11am and will fea­ture the same types of equip­ment that have proved pop­u­lar at Velox’s past events, Oliver says.

Among the as­sets on of­fer will be a three-group Vega espresso ma­chine, a Bel­gian waf­fle maker, curved glass deli dis­play units, under-bar fridges, and stain­less steel ta­bles and shelves.

“The butch­ery equip­ment will in­clude a “32” min­cer, an in­dus­trial band­saw, a mas­sive cold and freezer room, a sausage filler, bins and more ta­bles, just to men­tion a few items,” he says.

The auc­tion as­sets may be viewed be­tween 11am and 4pm, on Mon­day, at 27 Stella Road, Mon­tague Gar­dens.

Oliver says with the hol­i­day sea­son fast ap­proach­ing – a peak time in the hos­pi­tal­ity in­dus­try – Velox will hold two big auc­tions in the first two weeks of De­cem­ber to close off this year.

“We have been for­tu­nate to have had cater­ing equip­ment of such good qual­ity to auc­tion through­out 2017, and will be fea­tur­ing more of th­ese items in our De­cem­ber auc­tions as a re­sult of late re­vamps at restau­rants and other es­tab­lish­ments.”

He says Velox has just launched an in­no­va­tive new “self-man­aged” on­line por­tal, where sellers can “track and trace their as­sets in real time, as well as the pay­ments after the sale of their as­sets”.
