Bonham Carter plays Princess Margaret
SHE won the best supporting actress Bafta for playing the queen mother in the 2010 film The King’s Speech.
Now it seems Helena Bonham Carter may be taking on another royal role – she has been tipped to play Princess Margaret in series three of The Crown.
The 51-year-old is thought to be taking over from Vanessa Kirby as the queen’s glamorous younger sister for the upcoming season of the drama.
The Netflix series – rumoured to have cost an estimated £100 million for the first season alone – will be recast every two series as the central characters age.
Carter was in the running to play the queen, but was cast instead as her rebellious sister, the London Evening Standard reported.
Last year the Daily Mail revealed that Olivia Colman, 43, will take over from Claire Foy to play the queen for series three and four.
Like Bonham Carter, Colman has also played the queen mother, in the 2012 film Hyde Park On Hudson.
It is not yet clear who will succeed Matt Smith as Prince
