Opera diva Mimi to be at MTR Smit spring tea
THE MTR Smit Children’s Haven is bringing South African veteran opera singer Mimi Coertse to its spring tea, to be held at the NG Kragga Kamma Community Church in Sunridge Park on Friday September 1.
The haven holds an annual spring tea, hosting well-known guest speakers, to raise funds to maintain the facility. Opera diva Coertse will give a talk at the event. “MTR Smit is a registered NPO and we provide a home to 93 children, aged between eight and 13, who have been removed from parental care because their well-being was at risk,” MTR Smit Children’s Haven director Tanya Eales said.
The home caters for children who have been exposed to risk factors ranging from severe neglect and abuse to abandonment.
The tea, which will begin at 10am and run into the afternoon, will include a fashion show by Xtreme Models, an auction, lucky draws and music.
Tickets at R150 are available by contacting (041) 367-1103.
