Fascinating images of India
THIS photograph titled Elephant Splendour,
by Bay photographer John Grosse, forms part of the Images of India exhibition being staged at 46 14th Avenue, Walmer, today and tomorrow. Inspired by the many exciting images of India created by Grosse on his numerous trips to the Asian country, well-known fellow photographer Jill Sneesby led a photo trip to India in January.
Sneesby had herself visited India many times as a guest of the various Indian photographic societies to lecture and judge at photographic conferences and competitions. She was joined by Helen Wilkins and Elaine Whitcher as well as Francois Roux, the first vice-president of the Photographic Society of South Africa, and over three weeks they visited Rajasthan, Utter Pradesh and Uttarakhand. Two other Bay photographers, Leon Hugo and Wayne Webb, also travelled to India at this time and the photographers all teamed up to show the beauty of this fascinating country in one collective exhibition. Viewing is from 11am to 4pm today and tomorrow.
