Absa L’Ate­lier win­ners in ex­hi­bi­tion

Ga­lerie Noko is open­ing a joint ex­hi­bi­tion by Don­ald Wasswa and Onyis Martin in part­ner­ship with Absa Gallery on Tues­day, Oc­to­ber 16 at the gallery in Rus­sell Road.

Wasswa and Martin are the Absa L’Ate­lier 2016 Merit Award win­ners and they will be in­tro­duced by Absa Mu­seum and Gallery cu­ra­tor

Dr Paul Bayliss. Rhodes Univer­sity Mel­lon Foun­da­tion head Pro­fes­sor Ruth Sim­bao will give the open­ing ad­dress at 6 for 6.30pm.

The two merit win­ners cover dif­fer­ent top­ics.

Wasswa’s De­gen­er­a­tive Evo­lu­tion of the Liv­ing deals with “the con­cept of an­i­mals, and their pro­gres­sive devel­op­ment and is ex­plored through a wide range of art­works.

The works from Per­for­mances of Mem­ory by Martin on the other hand en­gage with the sense of loss.

The ex­hi­bi­tion closes on Satur­day Novem­ber 3.

Ga­lerie Noko is at 109-111 Rus­sell Road in Rich­mond Hill and its hours are 10am to 6pm dur­ing the week and from 10am to 4pm on Satur­day.
