MERCEDES: Vito vehicle of choice for mobile embassy TRUCK MARKET: 23% GROWTH IN MAY
MERCEDES-BENZ South Africa (Pty) Ltd (MBSA), the German football association, (DFB), and the German embassy in South Africa will be working together during the World Cup in South Africa.
The German embassy and its department of Foreign Affairs are offering all travelling German football fans special services at a central contact and information point at all game venues, in the form of a “mobile fan embassy” vehicle.
The Mercedes-Benz Vito is the vehicle of choice, and will be strategically parked close to stadia. Fans will be able to receive travel and tourism information and advice on transport, traffic, health, safety, and much more.
In addition, the support staff will provide German fans with emergency support — for instance, if they lose their passports.
German ambassador Dieter W. Haller said “thousands of fans will be celebrating at numerous football venues”.
“We at the German Embassy will support these festivities, especially those for our German fans, and we will be there to assist them as the need arises.
“We thank Mercedes-Benz and the DFB for their active participation, as being close to the football venues is convenient and allows us to be more flexible.”
Ambassador Haller was to receive the keys to the six vehicles from Dr Hansgeorg Niefer, president and CEO of MercedesBenz of South Africa (MBSA) on June 3.
The total courtesy support by MBSA to the German embassy for mobility during the World Cupincludes transportation and shuttle services using a Mercedes-Benz Viano, one Vito Crew Cab and two Vito Crewbuses, as well as two Mercedes-Benz EClass sedans.
A MercedesBenz Vito is to operate as a mobile embassy for German fans at the World Cup. It will be strategically parked close to stadia and fans will be able to receive travel and tourism information, and advice on transport, traffic, health, safety, and much more.
