Going around the world in two Jimnys
A RELUCTANT retiree from Lymington, UK, has embarked on a journey with a few mates that will be the envy of many a working person.
Not keen on the idea of a hobby at home to keep him busy during retirement, Les Carvall formed the charity Heaven Can Wait I’m Busy and issued the ultimate challenge to three mates who between them have 297 summers.
After two years of planning, the geriatric team is ready to travel through 16 countries, over three continents and across two major oceans in a pair of Suzuki Jimnys.
Part of the plan is to raise money for Save the Children, Oakhaven Hospice in Lymington, UK, and other worthy causes.
Carvall said they chose the Jimnys both for their durability and to prove that such a gruelling journey could be undertaken in affordable compact off-roaders.
Les commented: “We want to undertake this challenge to show that age is no barrier to getting up and get- ting on with living life and giving something back to society while we still have time.”
