DURBAN ROBBERS WOUND TWO
JOHANNESBURG — Two people were shot and wounded yesterday when a convenience store was robbed on Inanda Road in Durban, KZN paramedics said.
The robbers shot a man who was waiting for a taxi and an elderly woman inside a petrol station shop, said Crisis Medical spokesperson Neil Powell.
The man was hit in the abdomen and the woman in her upper leg. They were taken to hospital.
Police spokesperson Captain Thulani Zwane said the robbers arrived at the petrol station, went into its convenience store and demanded money. “… They took an undisclosed amount of money.”
The robbers also shot at a security vehicle, but no-one was hurt. Zwane was unable to confirm the shooting.
He said the robbers abandoned their car and hijacked an Opel Corsa in Newlands drive.
