JOHANNESBURG — R otational power cut s will be impl emented this w eekend in a bid t o incr ease Eskom’s w ater and die sel r eserves, the p arastatal said yesterday.
“The po wer s ystem is e xtremely c onstrained t oday [yesterday] and int o the w eekend, which will nec essitate the use o f open c ycle g as turbine s for mo st o f t oday,” E skom said in a s tatement.
“We anticip ate that a portion of the c apacity normall y import - ed fr om Cahor a Bassa hy droelectric po wer s tation in Mo zambique will be una vailable on S unday as the pl ant under goes urgent pl anned maint enance.”
Rolling bl ackouts w ere s cheduled fr om 6 am t o 10 pm t oday and 8 am t o 10 pm t omorrow.
