Q: WHAT ABOUT THE SUGAR IN MILK PRODUCTS?

Women's Health - Shrink Your Sugar Belly - - DAYS 6-12 -

A: Milk and yoghurt contain lactose, a type of sugar (a combination of glucose and galactose). We haven’t eliminated them from the diet, though. Lactose is digested more slowly than other types of sugar and therefore doesn’t have as big an impact on your blood sugar and insulin response. Milk and yoghurt are also packed with protein, which further slows digestion, and calcium, which you need for a healthy heart and bones. Finally, these products don’t taste sweet in the way most of us think of as sweet, so they are less likely to trigger cravings.
