Before you drop the mag and storm the liquor store: this is not yet a thing. But British professor David Nutt has invented “alcosynth”, a non-toxic synthetic alcohol that mimics those good-time effects without damaging your head, liver and heart. Even better news: it apparently won’t change the taste of your G&T. “People want healthier drinks,” Nutt told The Independent in the UK. “By 2050 alcohol will be gone.” Another (pretty awesome) thing: alcosynth’s effects last for the same length of time as regular alcohol, but are capped, making it impossible to feel drunker than when you’ve downed four or five vodka, lime and sodas. TBH, we just want to know how this will affect the taste of wine.
