Women's Health (South Africa) - - LOVE + LIFE -

Many of us are driven by occasion-based goals. Maybe a beach holiday is on the cards. Or a close friend’s wedding. So you crank things up at the gym and get draconian with your diet (back off, carbs). It’s brutal. But it often works. The event hits, you slay in your backless dress and then dial down the intensity. But that yo-yoing messes with your body physically (your metabolism, strength, endurance) – and mentally, says psychologist Dr Alexis Conason. “If you can’t keep it up, you often blame yourself for not ‘being good enough’ – which can prompt women to give up working out completely.” Well, that’s about to change.
