SKILLMILL TRAINING

Women's Health (South Africa) - - FITNESS DISCUSS! -

Buff! You may be inclined to wave the dreadmill goodbye, but don’t be too hasty: the SKILLMILL, a motorless treadmill powered by you, is showing up at gyms and offers a host of full-body drills. It’s the key component in Virgin Active’s new HEAT (High Energy Athletic Training) class, a quick allencompassing workout. “It’s the only non-motorised product that combines power, speed, stamina and agility training – all at the turn of a lever,” says Ceri Hannan, national product development manager at Virgin Active. Here, his fave moves on the ’mill:

SLED PUSH

This gets the glutes going. Up the resistance and lower your torso until it’s parallel to the floor. Now push!

CARIOCA

Do this to tone your inner thighs and hips. Stand sideways on the SKILLMILL, while holding onto the rails, and run sideways, crossing your trailing leg in front and then behind your leading leg.

ALL-OUT SPRINT

Keeping your feet on the steep edge of the surface, sprint as fast as you can.
