Buff! You may be in­clined to wave the dread­mill good­bye, but don’t be too hasty: the SKILLMILL, a mo­tor­less tread­mill pow­ered by you, is show­ing up at gyms and of­fers a host of full-body drills. It’s the key com­po­nent in Vir­gin Ac­tive’s new HEAT (High En­ergy Ath­letic Train­ing) class, a quick al­len­com­pass­ing work­out. “It’s the only non-mo­torised prod­uct that com­bines power, speed, stamina and agility train­ing – all at the turn of a lever,” says Ceri Han­nan, na­tional prod­uct devel­op­ment man­ager at Vir­gin Ac­tive. Here, his fave moves on the ’mill:


This gets the glutes go­ing. Up the re­sis­tance and lower your torso un­til it’s par­al­lel to the floor. Now push!


Do this to tone your in­ner thighs and hips. Stand side­ways on the SKILLMILL, while hold­ing onto the rails, and run side­ways, cross­ing your trail­ing leg in front and then be­hind your lead­ing leg.


Keep­ing your feet on the steep edge of the sur­face, sprint as fast as you can.
