I know 10 000 steps a day is the aim, but will they help me lose weight? ANSWER

Doing 10 000 steps (or eight kilometres a day) is important for over all health and vitality, but when it comes to weight loss, it’s about intensity too. Walking is a great starting point, but as you get fitter, highintensity exercise and/ or combining walking with strength training will be the best way to get results. Upping your steps by an average of 20 percent each week is a fantastic start. Incidental exercise can also make this easier to achieve dayto-day.
