WHAT TO DO IF YOU GET A PUNCTURE/ BREAKDOWN
Before embarking on any road trip, always check your spare tyre and tool kit. Invest in a puncture-repair kit. Stop at a station before entering the park and check your oil, water, tyre pressure, etc. Tip: make sure your tank is full, as there are no petrol stations within most reserves. And make sure you have the emergency contact numbers for the park handy. In fact, when you get to the entrance, find out whether the park has an emergency protocol in place and guidance on emergency numbers, medical attention and evacuation. If you suffer a puncture or breakdown in an area with no cellphone reception, flag down the next driver (ideally from the safety of your vehicle) and ask them for assistance, or to alert the park authorities.
