Cau­li­flower and broc­coli salad

Miriam Swanepoel, a reader from Wind­hoek, Namibia, loves mak­ing this colour­ful and de­li­cious salad for Christ­mas. 4-6 por­tions Prepa­ra­tion time: 10 min­utes Cook­ing time: 2-3 min­utes


125 ml (½ c) plain or Greek yo­ghurt

15 ml (1 T) bal­samic vine­gar

80 ml (¹⁄₃ c) olive oil

5 ml (1 t) black pep­per

5 ml (1 t) pa­prika


1 small head cau­li­flower

1 small head broc­coli

1 red onion, finely chopped

6 pi­quanté pep­pers, cut into strips

125 g diced ba­con, fried un­til crisp

45 ml (3 T) al­mond flakes, toasted

10 ml (2 t) sun­flower seeds, toasted

1 Dress­ing Mix the in­gre­di­ents and set aside.

2 Salad Break the cau­li­flower and broc­coli into bite-sized flo­rets and place in a glass bowl with a lit­tle wa­ter. Mi­crowave for 2-3 min­utes or un­til just blanched. Drain and put in a salad bowl. Pour half the dress­ing over.

3 Scat­ter the rest of the in­gre­di­ents on top and serve with the re­main­ing dress­ing.
