Heart sandwiches with side salad
Kids love food cut into shapes – which usually makes them more likely to eat it! Get them to help make these sandwiches.
Preparation time: 10 minutes
15 ml (1 T) mustard mixed with 100 g softened butter 6 slices of low-gi white bread 6 slices of low-gi wholewheat bread 200 g ham slices tub (240 g) herb cream cheese or Marmite
handful of mixed salad leaves cherry tomatoes, chopped chives to taste 1 Sandwiches Spread the mustard butter on each slice of bread (white and wholewheat). 2 Place a slice of ham on a slice of white bread and cover with a second slice of bread. 3 Spread herb cream cheese or Marmite on a slice of wholewheat bread and cover with the other slice. 4 Cut out 4 hearts from each sandwich and arrange 2 white and 2 wholewheat hearts together, points facing each other. Wrap in wax paper. Repeat with the remaining ingredients. 5 Salad Mix the ingredients and dish into a screw-top jar or lunchbox. Place in a lunch bag with the sandwiches.
