About 18 buns Preparation time: 15 minutes Rising time: 50-55 minutes Baking time: 20-25 minutes
1 kg cake flour
7 ml (1½ t) salt
30 ml (2 T) sugar
10 g instant dry yeast
750 ml (3 c) lukewarm water 400 g peanut butter
450 g strawberry jam
230 g cream cheese
125 ml (½ c) icing sugar,
80 ml (¹⁄₃ c) strawberry jam
Preheat the oven to 180 °C and line two 25 cm x 20 cm cake tins, including the sides, with greaseproof paper.
1 Buns Sift the flour, salt and sugar in a large bowl. Add the yeast and mix. Make a well in the middle and pour in the water.
2 Mix until a wet dough forms. Turn out onto a large flat surface and knead for about 10 minutes. Leave the dough in a large lightly oiled bowl to rise for 40 minutes or until it has doubled in size.
3 Knock the dough down and roll out into a rectangular shape, about 1 cm thick. Spread the peanut butter evenly across the dough followed by the jam. Roll up the dough, cut into 2 cm-thick slices and arrange in the tins.
4 Leave to rise for a second time, about 10-15 minutes. Bake for 20-25 minutes until cooked.
