SPROUTING SPUDS
For ages we’ve tried to keep potatoes in various places to stop them sprouting but nowhere worked. I recently grew about 30 and researched how to store them without them sprouting.
I tied them up in a cloth bag and added a small net bag filled with a teaspoon of dried sage and rosemary and stored them in the same cupboard as the others. They’re in their 46th day there
and not a sign of an eye on any. They’re also as firm as the day I harvested them.
Herbs – even dried – certainly have properties not known to us! BOB GILLIES, EMAIL
