Should they marry, Meghan – along with her beloved rescue dogs, Bogart and Guy – will be expected to give up her home in Toronto and join Harry at Nottingham Cottage, his Kensington Palace pad in London.

The cosy cottage is nowhere near as lavish as William and Kate’s 22-room Apartment 1A next door, but should suit the newlyweds just fine – at least until the pitter-patter of little feet comes along.

It has two rooms, two reception rooms and a small courtyard garden for the dogs – although they’d have the run of the sprawling gardens when Meghan takes them for walks.

The queen, a besotted dog-lover, is hardly likely to object to Meghan bringing her pooches along to the palace.
