YOUR TECH TERM OF THE WEEK: 5G
TECHTIONARY
You’ve heard of 4G, right? Well, 5G is the next step in the connectivity evolution. It’s super high-speed wireless, aimed particularly at the “internet of things” – think drones, self-driving cars, virtualreality headsets and appliances you control via the internet. As tech website Wired points out, despite the hype there’s no real standard definition for what 5G will mean for the realworld user. “The only point of agreement among the carriers is the vague outline. 5G will be crazy fast, crazy stable, and crazy versatile,” the site says. The downside? We’re going have to wait a few years before the tech actually rolls out.
