WHAT ABOUT HOME REMEDIES?

YOU (South Africa) - - LIFESTYLE | ADVICE -

A common home remedy is to brush your teeth with a paste of bicarbonate of soda and water or apply it to your teeth and leave it for a few minutes. A more recent emerging trend is to use a mixture of bicarbonate of soda and lemon juice. Centurionbased dentist Dr Karizaan de Vos says she doesn’t recommend these remedies as they soften the tooth enamel and might even permanently remove it.

Another home remedy is to use charcoal or ash to remove stains. De Vos says there are many far more effective products available that contain activated charcoal, which is safer.
