Every Sunday morning a five-year-old boy, David, attends church with his family. It’s common for the pastor to invite the children to the front of the church and have a short lesson before beginning the sermon. Each time he brings an item they can find around the house and relates it to a teaching from the Bible.

One morning the visual aid for his lesson is a smoke detector. “So, kids, what does it mean when an alarm sounds from the smoke detector?” the pastor asks.

David immediately raises his hand. “It means Daddy’s cooking dinner.”
