PROFESSOR MARSTON AND THE WONDER WOMEN

YOU (South Africa) - - CHILL OUT -

Biopic. The raging success of Wonder Woman (2017) has brought a renewed focus on the first female superhero’s creator, Harvard psychologist Dr William Marston (Luke Evans). And it’s a fascinating tale.

Marston, who believed women were superior to men, had a polyamorous family – he lived with his wife (Rebecca Hall) and mistress (Bella Heathcote) and had kids with both of them. The three also indulged in BDSM long before the Fifty Shades franchise made it mainstream.

This movie is both a feminist statement and a sensitive exploration of their unorthodox bond – and the challenges they faced for their choices. Worth the watch. – LIZ DE VILLIERS 2017. 108 MIN. 16LS.
