What to watch on the big & small screens
Thriller. With John Cho, Debra Messing and Michelle La. Director: Aneesh Chaganty. 13DLV. It’s probably every parent’s worst fear and dilemma: do you respect your child’s privacy or should you invade their intimate cyberworld if something troubles you?
This is the problem faced by David Kim (Cho) when he suspects his 16-year-old daughter, Margot (La), might be in danger. She’s disappeared, and David might be able to find her if he can follow her digital footprints by hacking her laptop.
Joining forces with detective Vick (Messing from Will & Grace), they scour Facebook, YouTube, Instagram and other social media, looking for clues. And you feel David’s pain when he makes discoveries about the daughter he thought he knew.
The entire movie is filmed as if it’s seen on a computer or smartphone screen – which some viewers might find boring.
