Your Baby & Toddler - - Hello - TSHOLOFELO MODISE EDITOR

Back-to-school is going to be big for my family this year. Our eldest is going to big school! Finding the right school was not easy, but a task we took seriously - two years of researching schools that would suit us and the way we raise our boys was an eyeopener. Budget was also a big factor as the costs of educating children in this country is becoming more costly. We’ve already been through his first two teeth falling out and spending two mornings at the school meeting his new teacher so I hold thumbs and pray for a tear free first day of school. I just hope I am not like my dad who took me to my first day of school. I am told I was just so happy I didn’t even bother with a clingy goodbye but of course he teared up as he left. Our little one will also have to get used to being alone at preschool without his big brother to protect and share his lunch snacks with him. I’m sure this new journey means we are also going back to school but it is the sign of progress and a bright future ahead for our little ones. With this I say thank you very much to the teachers who look after our children at school and good luck for all the first-timers. May this year bring us all more love, laughter and happiness in our lives. See our back-to-school dossier on page 57 to learn about what makes a preschool great, get tips for a tear-free drop off, why it is important for your child to be ready for preschool and of course, what the teachers wish you knew.
