Lentil & pear puree

In­gre­di­ents:

½ cup red lentils 1½ cups wa­ter 1 pear, peeled, cored and cut into chunks

Method:

1. Rinse the lentils well, check­ing that there are no “gar­den bits” like tiny stones in the mix. Pour wa­ter into a small pot, add lentils and pear chunks and bring to a boil over medium-high heat. Re­duce heat, cover and sim­mer for 10-15 min­utes un­til the lentils and pear chunks are ten­der.

2. Re­move from heat and drain off ex­cess wa­ter. Let cool a lit­tle be­fore you purée the mix­ture us­ing a hand blender or food pro­ces­sor (or use a good old sieve and spoon to press the mix­ture).
