Child rapist jailed for 30 years

MTU­BATUBA Re­gional Court last week convicted and sen­tenced Siya Ntanzi to a 30-year jail sen­tence for rap­ing a 13-year-old girl.

Ntanzi ap­peared at Mtu­batuba Re­gional Court on Mon­day, where the court heard that on 23 Oc­to­ber 2016, Ntanzi went to his neigh­bour’s home­stead at Qun­wane area in kwaHlabisa and forced open the door be­fore rap­ing his vic­tim re­peat­edly.

A case was opened at kwaHlabisa and the docket was trans­ferred to the Ulundi Fam­ily Vi­o­lence, Child Pro­tec­tion and Sex­ual Of­fences Unit for in­ves­ti­ga­tion.

Ntanzi was ar­rested in April last year and charged, be­ing pos­i­tively linked to the crime by sam­ples taken from the vic­tim.

Zu­l­u­land Clus­ter Po­lice spokesper­son, Cap­tain Nkosie Gwala said Ntanzi has been in cus­tody since his ar­rest last year
