Powerhouse Hanré on the move
RICHARDS Bay Christian School Grade 8 pupil Hanré Leibbrandt packs a lot of raw power in his solid frame.
Testimony to the fact is that he holds eight South African power lifting records.
The young strongman’s dreams of becoming a world champion might just come true.
Leibbrandt made his power lifting debut at the age of 13 when he competed at last year’s Iron Gladiators tournament.
He stamped his mark on the competition and announced his presence when bettering four South African records in the Teen 190kg class (ages 13-15).
He followed up this stellar performance with four more SA records in the 100kg class at the Iron Gladiators tournament earlier this year.
Leibbrandt is currently on top of his game, which resulted in bettering his deadlift record to 150kg.
Hanré will compete at the World Powerlifting Congress (WPC) South African competition on 16 June, where he will share the platform with other big names from all over the country who aim to qualify for world championships later this year in Orlando, Florida in November.
