Much to do at the Dolos Festival
The 10th Dolos Festival will have something in store for young and old. Apart from great South African music, festival-goers can also look forward to a range of action-packed activities to keep them busy.
Skaters and BMXers can enter the BMX and skateboarding competitions, hosted by The Bobby Greenhash Foundation and Minority Skate Co.
The competition will be held from 10am at Alkantstrand Skate Park in Richards Bay on Saturday, 22 September.
Entrance is free, but donations of canned food and clothing are welcome.
Are you more of a water baby? Then enter the Open Water Swim at Zululand Multi Sport Club on Saturday, starting from 1pm.
Under 10s can enter the 50m or 100m category, while the 200m, 400m, 800m and 1600m are open to anyone.
Have you always wanted to learn how to surf?
As part of the Dolos Festival, there will be surfing lessons at Alkantstrand on both the Saturday and Sunday from 8am to 10am.
There will also be horse riding on the beach.
On the festival terrain, there will be plenty to eat and drink, entertainment for the kids, an art tent and business stalls.
The Empangeni High School band will show why they keep winning so many competitions.
There will be some children’s theatre for the little ones, as well as babysitting facilities when mom and dad need a break.
If you’re still bored, try your hand at the many fun competitions arranged for the weekend.
There will be a hotdog and donut eating contest, as well as dolos building and fruit press competitions.
Egg-and-spoon and sack races will definitely create a few laughs.
See you at the Dolos Festival!
