Municipal boost for rural youth of Mbongolwana
RURAL youth of Mbongolwana Reserve now have easy access to computers and the internet.
This was made possible by uMlalazi Municipality which donated trading tools and equipment to the rural youth owned cooperative, SAITO in eShowe on Friday.
Six desktop computers, office chairs and desks were handed over to the group by Mayor Thelumoya Zulu to assist them with an internet
café aimed at empowering the rural youth.
‘These are the fruits of the progressive memorandum of understanding that was signed between uMlalazi Municipality and the National Youth Development Agency (NYDA) in 2017.
‘The aim is to ensure there is access to convenient internet and information to benefit local learners and older citizens.
‘SAITO Internet Café is located next to the Mbongolwana Regional Hospital, which makes it accessible to a broader market, including residents from neighbouring communities who come to seek medical attention,’ said Zulu.
Zulu also applauded the group for forming the cooperative and creating employment for themselves, saying they received the donation while they were continuing to create opportunities for themselves and other young people.
