Muzuvukile players hard at work for nationals

Zululand Observer - Monday - - ZO SPORT - Richard Springorum

ENSELENI’S Muzuvukile Primary School will represent KZN at the national finals of the U12 Danone Nations Cup Soccer Tournament to be held at Soweto’s Dobsonville Stadium on Saturday, 15 September.

They will come up against eight other teams, with the winner progressing to the world finals in Barcelona, Spain next year.

Muzuvukile Primary coach Jimmy Makoba and his troops are hard at work ahead of the national tournament and believe they have a shot of progressing further.

The school has entered the Danone Nations Cup over the past decade, but this was the first time they qualified for the nationals.

The team has been playing three matches every Saturday as part of their preparations for the upcoming tournament.

Dobsonville Stadium has excellent field conditions and the local lads are used to playing on bumpy and uneven surfaces, which means some adaption will be required.

But Makoba believes he has all the bases covered.

Other schools that have qualified for the national finals are - Lutzburg Intermediate School (Northern Cape),

Tshediso Xolani Primary School (Free State), Benny’s Sports Academy & Development (Limpopo), Shapeve Primary School (Mpumalunga), Laerskool Rustenburg Noord (North West), Charles Morgan Primary School (Eastern Cape), Nomlinganiselo Primary School (Western Cape) and Zamukhanya Primary School (Gauteng).
