A mixed bag of fishing

Zululand Observer - Monday - - SPORT - Richard Springorum

FISHING over the past few weeks has been like a chess game, with anglers having had to be very strategic to find the fish and test what’s working to get a bite.

Deep sea anglers have had a mix bag of edible and inedibles on most days once they found the shoals.

Bronzies, crackers and kob have made the catch list this week.

The off-shore fraternity on the other hand have experienced great fishing at major spots all along the north coast.

Snoek have been greedy, giving anglers a decent fight.

Trolling fillet baits just behind the backline has been the most productive at all spots.

Keep a spinning rod on hand, as it is a lot more fun catching these beauties on a spoon rather than a fillet.

Decent tuna have also come out on all the usual methods, with other varieties also not disappointing.
