Mozam­bi­can na­tion­als nabbed for stock theft

PO­LICE ar­rested four Mozam­bi­can na­tion­als in Man­guzi last week for con­tra­ven­tion of the Im­mi­gra­tion Act and stock theft. Man­guzi SAPS to­gether with Mozam­bi­can author­i­ties con­ducted an op­er­a­tion in Mtikini area and re­cov­ered 26 Mozam­bi­can cat­tle hid­den in the bush. Pro­vin­cial po­lice spokesper­son, Colonel Them­beka Mb­hele said the sus­pects aged be­tween 18 and 26 re­port­edly stole the herd of cat­tle from Mozam­bique and crossed the border into South Africa. ‘All ar­rested sus­pects were de­tained at the Man­guzi po­lice sta­tion and will be sent back to Mozam­bique to face charges of con­tra­ven­tion of the Im­mi­gra­tion Act and stock theft. ‘Re­cov­ered stolen live­stock was pos­i­tively iden­ti­fied through brand marks and were trans­ported by mem­bers of the Stock Theft unit to Bham­banana for quar­an­tine pur­poses,’ said Mb­hele.
