YOUNG local surfer Ben Knoetze not only racked up 850 points for his province, but landed the Sportsmanship Award on his debut performance at the 2018 Sea Harvest Grommet Surfing Games held in Port Elizabeth last month.

The nine-year-old surfing prodigy definitely stamped his mark on the competition, while also gaining heaps of experience at his first national event.

Knoetze was the King Cetshwayo District’s sole representative at the games, which saw more than 120 boys and girls competing from eight different districts at the 26th annual event, which is Surfing South Africa’s premier entry level interprovincial tournament.

Empangeni’s Ben Knoetze was super stoked with his achievements at the recent national games
