The slippery floating bridge catches out 50km rider, Bonginkosi Ngubane, in Sunday’s Steel Plate Solutions Empangeni Leopard Chase event.
THE Steel Plate Solutions Empangeni Leopard Chase on Sunday saw riders going all out for the last available points in the Bell Big 5 Series.
Two 50km riders from Mauritius, Michel Mayer (grand master) and Alexander Mayer (elite), competed in the race and were impressed with the organisation and the track.
They finished in times of 2:53:30 and 2:09:40 respectively, with Alexander completing the race in third overall and first in the elite category.
The Bell Big 5 series winners were Max Johnson and Gwen Farland in the male and female 10km event, respectively.
In the 25km male race, Jason Ackerman was the winner, while Mare Pieterse de Jager the first woman.
Over the 50km distance Andrew Johnson won the men’s race, with Hayley Smith taking the women’s title.
Candice Farland won the series’ sub-vet category and finished third overall in the 50km race
