HARD work and ex­cel­lence were cel­e­brated at Tisand Tech­ni­cal High School, dur­ing the school’s prize giv­ing awards held last week.

Learn­ers and teach­ers scooped var­i­ous awards for their hard work in pro­duc­ing qual­ity re­sults for the eSikhaleni-based school.

Guest speaker and for­mer stu­dent, Sph­e­sihle Zulu com­mended the school for keep­ing its tra­di­tion of pro­duc­ing ex­cel­lence.

Zulu, who is a ge­ol­o­gist at Richards Bay Min­er­als had a word of ad­vice for fe­male learn­ers, urg­ing them to stay fo­cused on their stud­ies.

‘Suc­cess does not come cheap, it comes af­ter hard work and sac­ri­fices,’ she said.

Grade 12 learn­ers also used the op­por­tu­nity to hon­our and pay homage to one of their teach­ers, Robert Buthelezi, who was praised for his pas­sion for ed­u­ca­tion and for his parental care.
