Mikel Blasco is a photographer who works between the Basque Country and Mexico. His relationship with that Central American country has brought him to do numerous videos and photoshoots for companies and institutions based there. His clients include the Spanish Embassy, prestigious magazines, the Cultural Office of Spain in Mexico City, and Mextrópoli – the Architecture and City Festival held annually in the capital.

His connection with the world of culture –especially with the music and film industry– is also important: Blasco has done photoshoots and video clips for music groups on tour in Mexico, as well as for Mexican groups on tour in Spain; he has also worked for renowned festivals on both sides of the Atlantic, such as the Platinum Awards at the Iberoamerican Film Festival and the International Film Festival of San Sebastián. In addition, he has participated in several short films and documentaries and in numerous programs on EITB (Basque Television) and RTVE (Spanish National Television).

Another of Blasco’s specialties is interior photography: Basque housing developers like Homes by SSH and renowned Mexican magazines with international readership like Arquine work with him regularly.

Mikel takes advantage of his work-related trips to interact with local citizens, live with them, and –likewise– portray the realities that he sees along the way.these insights into people’s daily lives have allowed him to bring together photographic collections of great beauty which he sometimes puts on display at exhibition halls; his most recent exhibition was entitled Omaní and it was held at the Vital Foundation of Vitoria-gasteiz. It reflected, under his intrepid gaze, the ways of life of the Sultanate of Oman.
